A letter to Justice Verma Commission

This is the short letter that I have sent to Justice Verma Commission on their official email ID justice.verma@nic.in. This commission has been formed to take steps towards prevention of crimes against women. It has been formed in Dec 2012 after the Delhi gang-rape. Thanks to Nisha for this thought.

The letter:
A lot of times the police don't even take the FIR of women who are harassed or raped by one or more men.
Policemen present at the station are either insensitive or reluctant towards taking the first step itself.
It makes a lot of sense to have women police thana where women in distress can go and register their complaints. Not only women at the beat level or in field but actually the whole hierarchy having women in it. This will make a victimized woman more comfortable to open up and will later the chance or fear of being ridiculed.
These women police stations may also handle women related cases other than actual rapes - like eve-teasing, dowry related, threats, blackmails, etc.
